IVETA History and Administration

IVETA was conceived in 1984 by a group of technical and vocational educators who wanted to facilitate the sharing of knowledge between developing and developed countries.

The Constitution was adopted in 1985 at a General Assembly and provides for the election of an Executive Committee to manage IVETA activities. The Executive Committee is composed of 13 officers who serve two-year terms and include a: President, President Elect, General Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, and 8 Regional Vice Presidents.

IVETA is an independent organization and is registered as a Non-Government Organization (NGO) in the USA. IVETA financing is from membership dues. IVETA has individual and/or organizational members in over 50 countries in all regions of the World and has linkages with many major national, bilateral, and international development organizations working in the field of technical and vocational education.
