IVETA was a key part of the TVET Alliance Summit which happened at the Villa il Poggiale outside Florence in Italy from 5-6 April. The Summit was organised by the Skillman Alliance (comprising IVETA, AER, ENNI, and EAPRIL) in collaboration with the European Training Foundation.
There were at least 6 IVETA members represented (mostly from the European region) but Jean Luc Marcellin, our member from Canada was there as well!

The main objective of the Summit was to bring all of the SkillNet project partners together with high-level TVET stakeholders who share a common desire to co-design an inclusive, resilient and sustainable society, while reshaping the TVET of the future. “Building tomorrow’s society” was the theme of the event, with the drafting of a ‘Florentine declaration’ based on the results that emerged during the Summit.
The Summit focused on analysing the results achieved during the 2021 Skillman International Forum (SIF2021), at which IVETA also played a key role. It was expected that both high-level TVET stakeholders and SkillNet project partners could develop best practices and the bases for a future extended alliance.

Participants watched, presented and analysed key SIF2021 concepts and thoughts in order to identify and draw conclusions. Several working groups were formed and everyone got into the spirit of discussion and debate.
Ultimately, the final plenary session brought all participants together to chart the declaration.
The TVET Alliance Summit was certainly an event to remember – from the plush setting to the camaraderie after 2 years of lockdown. Participants relished the opportunity to network and socialise in person, and we even had live entertainment!
Congratulations to the Skillman Group and the other Alliance partners for putting on such an incredible event.

President-Elect, Dr Julian Ng, managed to catch up with Jean Luc Marcellin (North America region member) and here’s a short interview.
