10 Challenges for the Chilean Educational System

Challenge 1. Promote innovation to recover learning and reduce the gaps amplified by the pandemic, promoting comprehensive training experiences.

Challenge 2. Eliminate school closures as a consequence of evaluation in the quality assurance system, reduce the burden of standardized evaluations, and reorganize the curriculum to promote capacity development.

Challenge 3. New financing system with basal contribution.

Challenge 4. Alternative modalities to reach more families and increase coverage with equity.

Challenge 5. Strengthen early childhood education, stopping schooling at this level and strengthening the training and assessment of its professionals and technicians.

Challenge 6. Guarantee all the necessary support and resources for the new stage of implementation of the Public Education System.

Challenge 7. Strengthen the new intermediate levels: Local Education Services as a key piece of the reform.

Challenge 8. New institutional framework and a relevant quality model with Technical and Professional (TP) education, for the articulation of the system and the strengthening of the capacities of its protagonists.

Challenge 9. Gender equity in TP education and more female students in STEM areas.

Challenge 10. Prioritize managerial leadership through a system of professional managerial development in stages, with greater focus on its pedagogical role, specific training and salary incentives.
