Due to the global skill shortage, employers and individuals are looking for short education or training programs that lead to recognized sets of competencies or certifications. Micro-credentials are now available and accepted in all sectors ranging from agriculture to IT to transportation. In this webinar, three TVET experts will discuss the growing use of micro-credentials, including the application and assessment of these stackable learning experiences.
Moderator

Kenneth Vella
Dr Kenneth Vella is the headmaster of Mater Boni Consilii – St Joseph School in Paola, Malta and Chairman of the QAC for the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA). After obtaining his Bachelor, Master and Postgraduate Diploma from the University of Malta, he completed his doctorate in Educational Research and Development with the University of Lincoln. Dr Vella is also the Maltese Ambassador to Finland and Estonia.
Panelists

Arjen Deij
Arjen Deij has been working for the European Training Foundation (ETF) since 1995. He has worked both in HE and VET. He is following qualification systems developments internationally for 25 years. He led ETF work on occupational standards. He has been involved in the European Qualifications Framework from the outset and works on its external dimension. He is and was involved reforms in Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tunisia, Turkey and Ukraine: Romania before accession to the EU and in 2007-2008 England, Wales and Northern Ireland (on secondment at QCA). He is the Thematic Coordinator of the ETF qualifications team.

John Foster
Since 2005, Dr John Foster has served as the President/CEO of NOCTI and Nocti Business Solutions (NBS), both accredited as “personnel accreditation” bodies. He has over 45 years of experience in career & technical education, workforce training, and tailored industrial training program development. Dr Foster served three Governors while working for the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and has been as a teacher, teacher educator and school administrator. He presents nationally on topics related to workforce training and the use of data to enhance that training and has written 7 books related to the subject. He also served as a core member for the National Research Center for Career and Technical Education. Lastly, he was a founding member of USATVET an organization promoting CTE internationally.

Urs Hauenstein
Dr Urs Hauenstein is the President of the International Council of Education and Management (ICEM), the Association of Swiss Quality Competencies and Qualifications (SQCQ), the Institute of Competencies and Qualifications in Switzerland (I-C-Q) and the International Network for Accreditation, Recognition and Dissemination in the UK (INARD). He serves as Honorary Professor for the University Agora Oradea Romania and as Visiting Professor for a range of other Universities in Europe and Eastern Europe. He is an Honorary Fellow at Leeds Beckett University, an Advisory Board Member for Internationalisation to the University of Lincoln and a Senior Fellow of Globethics Geneva.
