The LEA Conference theme for 2026 looks at Continuing Professional Development in Higher Education, through the lens of the following 4 areas:
1. Quality of Professional Training
This category examines the benchmarks, methodologies, and assessment frameworks that ensure higher education training remains rigorous and impactful. Presenters will share institutional strategies and research aimed at elevating teaching standards, aligning curricula with evolving global demands, and cultivating a culture of continuous excellence for educators across Latin America, Europe, and Asia.
2. Professional Progression of Academic Staff
Focused on the career trajectories of higher education professionals, this track explores the structural support systems, mentorship programs, and policy frameworks that foster long-term growth. Discussions will centre on strategic leadership experiences, faculty retention, and the creation of clear, equitable pathways for promotion and leadership development within universities.
3. Research and Academic Development
This sub-topic bridges the gap between scholarly inquiry and practical academic growth, highlighting how robust research ecosystems fuel professional advancement. Participants will delve into collaborative international projects, funding strategies, and postgraduate programs that empower administrators and academics to drive institutional innovation through impactful research.
4. Technological Competencies
As digital transformation reshapes academia, this category addresses the essential digital literacy and technological tools required by modern educators and administrators. Presentations will explore innovative professional development programs designed to integrate AI, virtual learning environments, and advanced data analytics into higher education workflows and teaching methodologies.
