R.I.P. Dr Chinyere Shirley Ayonmike

It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I bring you sad news. Earlier today, I was informed that we lost one of our long-time TVET supporters and immediate past Vice-President for East and West Africa, Dr. (Mrs.) Chinyere Shirley Ayomike.

Dr. Shirley was a champion of TVET in a number of ways. She performed research to advance the field of TVET and was an outspoken leader for those she represented in the East and West Africa Region of IVETA for many years.

I last saw her in person at the US Annual Conference in New Orleans in 2015. She was always very respectful and kind to me. May she and her husband Rest in Peace!

Please keep Dr. Shirley and her family in your prayers.

With deepest of sympathy,
Dr. John Gaal
President

This news hit us very hard. We could not believe such a tragedy could be possible. Shirley was a true academic committed to vocational and technical training. Her IVETA work in East and West Africa for so many years was remarkable. Shirley (Dr. Chinyere Ayomike) will be sadly missed and remembered in our hearts and prayers, and for striving to change lives through education. (Dr. Brenden. D Tempest-Mogg, Executive Director, IVETA).

I cannot believe she is no longer with us. She was a good friend and a strong supporter of IVETA. She was one of the most enthusiasic about TVET and will be missed. My condolences to her family.

If any of you know what happened please let me know. Thank you.
