Carmel Thompson is a highly qualified VET practitioner with an extensive history of serving the Australian and international VET sectors. She is a qualified accountant with industry experience as a trainer, RTO manager and consultant. Carmel was previously the owner of Achievers International College and Achievers Business College in Brisbane and is the current CEO of The Southern Cross Connection. The Southern Cross Connection delivers nationally accredited training programs and provides consultancy services to both Australian and international clients, focusing on quality management systems in VET.
Carmel has also undertaken considerable work with international VET systems in Jamaica, Ethiopia, the UK, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia and Indonesia. She is the current President of IVETA (International Vocational Education and Training Association).
Carmel is a highly respected trainer specialising in Quality Management, Business, Frontline Management and Highly Effective Training Skills for VET Trainers. She has also served on numerous State, National and International VET committees.
Carmel is a highly sought after speaker at national and international conferences that focus on a range of VET issues such as learner engagement, professional development and emerging trends and challenges in today’s VET environment.
