Farewell

Hello IVETA Members,

This will serve as my final “official” message to our dear members as the end of my 6-year term of president-elect/president/past president comes to a close on December 31, 2024.

Before I depart, I wish to share something that took nearly 1-year to develop with the US-Department of Labor (US-DOL). Around this time last year, I was approached by net.America (a US-DOL training vendor) to assist in the development of a 2-part series that addressed the Mental Health of apprentices. To my knowledge, these 2 video shorts served as the first official attempt by US-DOL to address the Mental Health of construction-related registered apprentices.

The first video focuses on the apprentice’s well-being while the second video speaks to how sponsors (i.e., contractors, unions, and apprenticeship schools) can create a culture of wellness. In other words, how they play a major role in ensuring apprentices have resources available to help themselves and others near and dear to them.

I encourage each of you to please take a few minutes to view these videos via the links below and share as you see fit:

I wish all of you the best as we move to a new chapter in the next 40 years of IVETA. Thanks again for your ongoing support.

Happy Holidays!

Dr. John Gaal
