IVETA 40th Anniversary North America Regional Conference

December 4 - 7, 2024

Join us for a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the starting of IVETA in the interesting and historic city of San Antonio, Texas, USA. The IVETA Conference is being planned in parallel with the annual US Association for Career & Technical Education (ACTE) Conference where IVETA started 40 years ago.

The joint conference provides IVETA members with the opportunity to:

1. share information at IVETA presentations,
2. visit a Community College and attend an IVETA evening reception
3. attend some of the 350 ACTE presentations on all technical areas & levels with the 5000 TVET professionals at the ACTE conference; and
4. visit an expo of 250 exhibits of TVET goods/services.

The IVETA Conference Theme

Evaluating TVET Workforce Development Policies and Programs to Improve Economic and Social Outcomes

• Evaluating economic impact of workforce development programs (i.e., including increasing employment and wages, increasing productivity, and reducing social expenditures)
• Evaluating social impact of workforce programs (i.e., improving sex equity, reducing crime, improving social cohesion learning, reducing crime and poverty, preparing for life-long, etc.)
• Evaluation methodologies including examining the cost and efficiency of: (i) internal inputs to workforce development programs (i.e., TVET staffing, facilities), (ii) external social and economic outcomes, and (iii) gross and net outcomes (i.e., comparing outcomes for program participants with similar non-participants).
• Evaluating TVET support programs (i.e., career guidance, entrepreneurship, job placement services)

How To Submit a Proposal to Make a Presentation at the IVETA Conference

• Send a 300-word summary of your proposed presentation, linked to the above conference themes, and your vita to David Fretwell, Vice President North America IVETA, ivetavpna@gmail.com as soon as possible as we will be shortlisting and selecting proposals in July to assist presenters in arranging travel etc.
• You will be provided with instructions on how to submit a detailed summary of your presentation on the ACTE program website in July, so it will be visible to all 5000 ACTE and IVETA conference participants.

How to Register and Pay Conference Fees

ACTE is handling IVETA registration. IVETA members will have a discounted registration rate of US$345 (30% off the normal rate).

You will be asked to create an “account” if you have not attended one of our North American conferences before. Just use your electronic mail address to set up an account and register. Email David Fretwell at ivetavpna@gmail.com for the special discount code, or if you have questions.

The registration provides IVETA members with access to all IVETA activities, ACTE presentations, and the exhibition on TVET goods and services.

You can pay using a credit card. If you do not have one, you can ask for an invoice to do a Bank Transfer. IVETA can provide foreign registrants with a visa support letter if requested, once proof of registration is provided. Remember, you must be a current IVETA member.

If you are unable to get a visa, your registration fee can be refunded.

Venue, History, and Hotels

The Conference Center is in the historic area of San Antonio. You must book your accommodation by yourself - it is not included in the registration fee. The ACTE system has some special rates including the Hilton Palacio del Rio which is beside the Conference Center where IVETA sessions will be held – book early before the good rates are gone – you can always cancel.
