1) How are you planning on gaining new members across your region?
My target is to contact universities and TVET colleges in my local area, make appointments and visit as many professionals as possible. I will be attempting to gather small groups of potential members, but if required will visit one-on-one. I will be promoting the features and benefits of IVETA including promotion of the Journal. As these universities and TVET colleges are about to re-open doors to international students, the professionals I meet have links and contacts throughout East Asia and the Pacific. I hope to be able to tap into their networks and student cohorts to further promote IVETA and increase membership in South East Asia, the Pacific as well as TVET communities in other parts of the globe.
2) What events and initiatives have you planned to network and reach new members?
I am strongly promoting a Mentoring Program where members and potential members can tap into experienced TVET experts. By providing single conversation support on topics such as reviewing and grading group activities, use of rubrics, strategies to gain full participation in group activities, creating lesson plans from curricula, etc. Through the mentoring program, IVETA will become more referred to as a good place for professional membership.
Using the contacts made through university and TVET college visits, I will be able to promote face-to-face workshops and special interest discussion groups.
3) Are there any TVET organisations that we can affiliate with in your region that will be happy to sign up for our membership?
I will have a list of organisations where there are opportunities for affiliation in 2022, once I commence contacting and meeting with universities and TVET colleges in my local area.
4) How can you add value to the entire region in 2022?
I will be using word-of-mouth strategies and professional TVET networks to identify common themes and needs where IVETA can support. I will be seeking feedback and suggestions from current and potential members on TVET activities that cross borders. However, in the East Asia and Pacific region, there are many differences that are community, financial and government policy based. These factors divide the TVET population in the region. Therefore, small targeted events would be more beneficial to members and potential members.
